What is wrong with the Cam?

Bliss!
Yesterday, while Colin and I were driving back home, we were talking a lot about the Camarilla and the SCA and the different experiences we've had with both groups.  I've been feeling pretty damn unimpressed with the Cam for the past year or so.  I know that part of it is the fact that I've been stupidly busy with the wedding, but I know that wasn't all of it.

I was telling him about Ghetto-Con, and how I wasn't worried about my safety, and I wasn't scared that something would happen.  I felt surrounded by family and friends, and I felt comfortable knowing that the people in the club - even if they didn't know me - would make sure nothing happened to me.  And I think if we had that same Convention today, with the same problems, we wouldn't have the same response.  I wouldn't feel safe, because I don't trust the general populace anymore.  I would go find another hotel, or leave the convention, because I don't feel like we're a family anymore.

So what is wrong with the Cam?  What changed in our little society?  And I wonder what can be done to make it better?

Back in Tulsa.  I don't want to be here.  Trip was long, but it is nice to decompress.  Wedding was amazing, pictures will be coming soon.  I'm pretty upset with a few things that have happened over the past few weeks, and I'm trying VERY hard to let go.  It isn't going well.  Heard NCRE was fun, hope it went well, very sad that many of our friends could not make our wedding due to it.

Home now.  I'm a married lady.  The weekend was AMAZING!  Now, off to honeymoon in Glacier... :)  Back in a few days!

[Wedding] It's the Final Countdown...

Bliss!
Eeek!  7 days and counting.  We've gotten a lot of the BIG stuff done...but I feel like there is so much to be done.  A few last minute changes to our attendants kind of threw things out of whack there for a bit, but I think we've gotten everything sorted out...

I'm super stressed and excited and anxious.  It's just a lot to do, and a lot going on, and oh my GOD I wish that I hadn't had to come back to Tulsa this week!!!!  That has been the bane of my existence.  Colin stayed in Montana though to help out, so at least HE gets to help.  :)

So I probably won't be around much the next three weeks.  Well, not that I was around much the past few months, but you know.  There will be pictures and (hopefully) video when we're done!

Loves to you all!  Oh, and if you want to come to an AWESOME wedding in Montana, lemme know.  ;)

I'm ashamed of the Camarilla.  I'm ashamed of many of the people in it, and it is quickly become a place filled with people I don't care to associate with.  People who are rude, who are mean, and who fail at being decent human beings.  I just don't comprehend what makes people think it is ok to treat others the way they do...

I'll rant more about it later.

Party!

I'm excited.  I dunno how many of you are in a place to make it (probably not many) but what the hell.  :)  There are really only a few people in the Springs that I wouldn't want there, but I think everyone knows who, so I'm sure that won't be an issue.

From Miss E

So as I'm sure we all know - Miss April is getting married at the end of May  *YAY*

On her way to Montucky... she is making a stop in Denver/Colorado Spings - she was able to arrange a LONG layover :)
She will be intown  ** FRIDAY MAY 22** only and we would love it if you guys could join us for dinner and for those brave enough - dancing afterwards! (her request - I personally think I'm getting to old---- Kidding)

As of right now the tentative plans are Dinner - Jack Quinns approximately 6.30 (her plane gets in 4 something in denver - so we will be driving down)
After dinner haning out then probably Cowboys since neither of us have been to the new one - haven't heard much with the goodness on this one so chances of staying are slim-- lol!

I'm sure there will be some drinking involved - however she has an early flight and I have to drive so it looks to be alcohol light -

I am sending this out now in the hopes that you can pencil her in.  Hopefully this is enough time...
Also if you have any ideas for cheap bachelorette games... I'll take em... the ones they have in party city are kinda tame!! LMAO!!

PLEASE RSVP & forward to anyone I may have forgotten!!

THANKS!!!!

[Wedding] Poll Time!

Bliss!
So, my baby brother is going to do a reading at our wedding.  I don't think most of you have ever met Chas, but he is the consumate joker.  He's the class clown...and he is always just hilarious.  So, I'm looking for something that is a) non-secular and b) something he can make people laugh with.  He's got a great voice, and he's definitely a performer (gotta get him in the Cam...)

I found a few that I like...so...anyone have thoughts on these?  Or maybe other suggestions?

Everything I need to know, I learned in Kindergarten:
Most of what I really need to know about how to live and what to do, and how to be, I learned in kindergarten. Wisdom was not at the top of the graduate school mountain, but there in the sandbox at nursery school.

These are the things I learned:

Share everything.

Play fair.

Don't hit people.

Put things back where you found them.

Clean up your own mess.

Don't take things that aren't yours.

Say you're sorry when you hurt somebody.

Wash your hands before you eat.

Flush.

Warm cookies and cold milk are good for you.

Live a balanced life.

Learn some and think some and draw and paint and sing and dance and play and work every day some.

Take a nap every afternoon.

When you go out into the world, watch for traffic, hold hands and stick together.

Be aware of wonder.

Remember the little seed in the plastic cup? The roots go down and the plant goes up and nobody really knows how or why, but we are all like that. Goldfish and hamsters and white mice and even the little seed in the plastic cup -- they all die. So do we.

And then remember the book about Dick and Jane and the first word you learned, the biggest word of all: look.

Everything you need to know is in there somewhere. The Golden Rule and love and basic sanitation. Ecology and politics and sane living.

Think what a better world it would be if we all -- the whole world -- had cookies and milk about 3 o'clock every afternoon and then lay down with our blankets for a nap. Or if we had a basic policy in our nation and other nations to always put things back where we found them and cleaned up our own messes. And it is still true, no matter how old you are, when you go out into the world, it is best to hold hands and stick together.

A lovely Love Story by Edward Monkton

The fierce Dinosaur was trapped inside his cage of ice. Although it was cold he was happy in there. It was, after all, his cage.

Then along came the Lovely Other Dinosaur.
The Lovely Other Dinosaur melted the Dinosaur’s cage with kind words and loving thoughts.

I like this Dinosaur thought the Lovely Other Dinosaur.
Although he is fierce he is also tender and he is funny.
He is also quite clever though I will not tell him this for now.

I like this Lovely Other Dinosaur, thought the Dinosaur. She is beautiful and she is different and she smells so nice.
She is also a free spirit which is a quality I much admire in a dinosaur.

But he can be so distant and so peculiar at times, thought the Lovely Other Dinosaur.
He is also overly fond of things.
Are all Dinosaurs so overly fond of things?

But her mind skips from here to there so quickly thought the Dinosaur. She is also uncommonly keen on shopping.
Are all Lovely Other Dinosaurs so uncommonly keen on shopping?

I will forgive his peculiarity and his concern for things, thought the Lovely Other Dinosaur. For they are part of what makes him a richly charactered individual.

I will forgive her skipping mind and her fondness for shopping, thought the Dinosaur. For she fills our life with beautiful thoughts and wonderful surprises. Besides, I am not unkeen on shopping either.

Now the Dinosaur and the Lovely Other Dinosaur are old.
Look at them.
Together they stand on the hill telling each other stories and feeling the warmth of the sun on their backs.

And that, my friends, is how it is with love.
Let us all be Dinosaurs and Lovely Other Dinosaurs together.
For the sun is warm.
And the world is a beautiful place.

If Tulsa were to have a Weekend long Forsaken event, possibly at a campground, likely with lots of grilling and Mmmm-Meat...who would be interested in that?

We've been trying to brainstorm.  I know other domains have done these with great success...I want a weekend of Fuzzy Goodness!

Of course, it wouldn't happen for several months...but curious to know who, if anyone, would be willing to make the trip.  :)

Fun times at the Dog Park

  • Mar. 16th, 2009 at 7:24 PM
Bliss!
As normal on my weekends, we took the girls out to the dog park this afternoon.  The weather was GORGEOUS, even a little on the warm side, and they were itching to get out.  Well, after being there about 30 minutes or so, one of the Tulsa Park workers moved the sprinkler over into the big dog park where we had the girls...and Gretchen went to TOWN.  Of course, Angel wouldn't have anything to do with the water, but Gretchen was all over it.  Everyone there was rolling - she was so hilarious.  She would run away, then run back and attack the spout with her paws, then run away, try to eat the water...it was so fun.

So, pics below the cuts of the adorableness of my puppem.  :)

[Wedding] Massive Stuff Done!

  • Feb. 24th, 2009 at 8:08 PM
Bliss!
I have been so busy this weekend.  Like, I'm ready to pass the fuck out because I haven't stopped going all weekend long.  I totally busted ass and got a ton of wedding stuff done.  No crafty projects finished, but stuff is coming together.

Things I did this weekend...

1) Found our invitations.  Not enough at Target, but bought them anyway.
1a) Found invitations I liked more.  Bought them.
1b) Tried to return first invitations, can't find the receipt.
1c) Decide we'll keep the ones we can't return AND some of the new ones I bought.  We are all happy this way.
2) Bought a suit for Colin, for the rehersal dinner.
3) Flower Girl gifts are all purchased.  I still have to decorate their tote bags and fill them with the goodies.
4) Build-a-Bears made for my Flower Girls.  A panda for Karsyn and a puppy for Kassidy.  Super cute, I squeed with joy.
5) Target gift registry done.  There are a few things I need to remove.
6) Flowers for Bridesmaids bought.  Ribbon bought to wrap them.
7) Acid bought for glass etching project.
8) Massive amounts of flowers purchased for arrangements.
9) Floating candles purchased (20)
10) Guestbook purchased.  It needs to be spruced up, but we've got the book.
11) Bubbles bought
12) Ribbon bought - white, blue, tartan
13) Colin's Birth Certificate Ordered

I was busy!  :)  I'm proud of myself!

Oh yeah!  94 days!  woohoo!

Bliss!
As those who attended the convention found out, White Wolf is paying our entry fee to ICC!

So, this just came across the OOC list, regarding NOIR.  I'm curious...did EVERYONE who attended get free tickets to ICC?  Is THAT why the rest of the members have to pay more in door fees for the con?  So that WW can give free tickets to people who run a con?  And what about the other conventions, will the people who go to those get free entry?  How does this encourage more people to go to ICC?  Yes, lets reward the people who have the money to travel to cons and featured games...not just with overcap xp, not just with plot, but now, with free con entry!  Woopeee!

I'm feeling a little...irritated and shitty over this post.  I support White Wolf doing something for the cons.  I really like when they go out of their way to do something...like at NCRE, when we got a pre-release Changeling book.  We raffled it off and it was great.  But...no one got anything free just for showing up.

Yeah.  Just...yeah.  I think that until there are changes in the club, my involvement will remaing fairly limited.

[Wedding] Ok, another...

I need alternatives to The WEdding March.  It really just isn't...me.  I am pretty stuck on Canon in D, but Colin wants to have bagpipes and well...it sounds...um...like crap, on the pipes.  Sad, but true.  We might be be able to get a live piper, so we might be using taped music, so I might be able to do Canon in D...but...

Anyway, anyone have ideas for alternative processionals?

[Wedding] Oh. Crap.

  • Feb. 12th, 2009 at 9:41 PM
Bliss!
Oh yeah, we're 106 days out.

ACK!

Most of the big stuff is taken care of, but there are a few things I still need to do.  Namely, get Colin's kilt, order kilts for the boys, and get one of my bm dresses ordered.  She STILL hasn't gotten me her measurements.  I swear to god, if she doesn't soon...I'll sic my mother on her.  That'll teach her!

Anyway, for the most part, things are coming together.  Oh yeah, haven't gotten Save the Dates out yet...but, those will go soon.  And then Invites at the beginning of April.  hehe, woops.  Oh well, whateva.

I'm kinda starting to freak.  ARGH!
